A/N: it’s about time I posted something I’ve written up here, don’t you think? And why not kick it off with some fanfiction? Yes, this is Twilight fanfiction. But it’s about Jasper, so that means a little more to me, since Edward, Bella, or Jacob don’t really strike my fancy. And no, I’m not ashamed. :)
He tried to move away from the bodies. Glazed eyes stared at him, accusing and leering. He tripped over one of their legs, bent grotesquely the wrong direction. Even still the scent of the kill enticed him. He had been sloppy in his haste, blood coated everything. It was all over her white blouse, blossoming down the front, staining the small embroidered roses, almost appearing black in the darkness. It spattered across her listless face, smeared her limp hands; one of which was extended towards a smaller body. The toddler’s blond hair matted against his face, tangled with crimson. His head was cocked to the side at a sharp angle. A thin strip of sinew and tendon was all that kept the head connected to the neck.
Jasper swallowed hard and closed his eyes, trying desperately to drown out the echoes of their screams. His hands trembled. He hadn’t meant to, and yet here he was. Why hadn’t Alice seen this? Their fear still ran rampant in his mind, gripping him and freezing him from the inside out. And yet, the cold could not touch the warm center in his stomach. The freshly consumed meal.
Jasper felt nauseous. Strange how such a human sensation could plague him still. He stumbled out of the dark alley he had dragged them into. He blinked in the sharp light of the street lamps. Everything had taken on a new focus, colors and textures suddenly contrasting much brighter than before. Jasper swayed, knowing why everything was so vibrant.
He had to get away. Now.
Cold air ripped through his hair, whipping him in the face. His movements were horrifyingly more powerful than before. No more than a blur, he crashed into the trees, hardly even pausing to cover his tracks. He felt the wind catch a stray droplet of blood on his lip and rip it away. His still heart ached.
He didn’t know where he was going. He didn’t care where he was going. He felt vile. He couldn’t go home. He couldn’t bear to see Alice. To feel her emotions, knowing how much he had disappointed her. He was a monster. That was all there was to it. How could he have even gone along with the charade that the other Cullens shared? He wasn’t capable of being decent. He was glad he could feel the fear of the two he had just murdered. He deserved to suffer for what he had done.
Steadily he finally came to a stop. He stood at a small waterfall, the gurgling of the water attempted to drown the sound of his thoughts. It didn’t work. The worst part was how great he felt. He felt so alive, so powerful. The burning in his throat was finally fully sated.
He stepped into the waterfall, letting the ice cold water wash over him. He was acutely aware that some of the water ran away red. He failed Alice. He gritted his teeth as he remembered the promise he made to her. He had sworn he’d try his best. Even if it was so long ago, it still hurt that he couldn’t keep his promise. He couldn’t even keep it for the one he loved.
He buried his head in his hands and knelt on the slippery stones. He could barely feel the freezing water. The blood of his recent victims seeped hotly into his veins. Jasper wanted nothing more than the misery to end. He hated himself for the blood inside him. The blood that was not his. He wasn’t alive anymore, he had no right to carry this life giving substance. He didn’t want their blood. He couldn’t stand their blood.
He felt a little dizzy as he brought his wrist to his mouth. His thoughts clouded with nothing but self-loathing, he did something he hadn’t had to do in several decades. The truth was, not all of Jasper’s scars were from the wars in the South. Sure, plenty of them resulted from the endless battles and training. But no one, perhaps not even Alice, knew where some had come from.
He clamped his jaw down on his wrist, puncturing the veins and the arteries that lay deep beneath the skin. He ripped his teeth out savagely, nearly taking a chunk out of his arm. He tore further up his arm as well, and on the other wrist. He would do anything he could to get their lives out of him.
Pain shot like lightning up his arms, and he grimaced, growling low to himself. He could feel his own venom seeping agonizingly into the wounds. He wondered slightly how it had felt for all the lives he had taken. Did they feel the searing unimaginable pain as if they were going through the change? Or did they only feel the mundane muted aching humans normally felt? Jasper felt a pang of jealousy. What he wouldn’t give to be an ignorant human once again.
He made his way unsteadily out from under the water. He sat down shakily and leaned against the nearby cliff face. A dark path spattered behind him as he moved. He leaned his head back wearily, his hands drooped at his sides. He knew he couldn’t sleep, but any vampire who lost blood felt weak. The blood stained his alabaster skin, it became a vibrant red when he moonlight caught it. He became strangely transfixed as he watched the streams of crimson trickle their way down toward the edge of the water. The pain in Jasper’s arms had not subsided, but he couldn’t help but feel slightly relieved.
“Jasper,” Alice’s tinkling voice broke from the other side of the river. Jasper stiffened. “What did you do?” She whispered. Her tiny arms were wrapped tightly around her small frame. The moonlight made her a portrait of contrasts. Her skin was white and ethereal, her hair was shockingly black, and pool of bright gold shone in her face. Her eyes flicked to his, once a molten gold, now shining a vivid red. Then she shifted her gaze to his arms. Her expression changed then. Jasper could feel the waves of grief rolling off of her.
“Alice.” He murmured, closing his eyes. He couldn’t bear to feel her golden gaze on him. It only stung the shame already within him.
He felt a cool hand against his face. He flinched slightly in response. He could sense her kneeling down beside him. Fingers brushed his mangled arm.
“What did you do?” She repeated lowly. He could hear her trying not to let the strain into her voice. Slowly he reopened his eyes.
“I wanted it out.” He said simply. He knew he didn’t need to actually explain anything to her. She had already seen.
She sighed heavily next to him. She brought her arms around him. Jasper’s heart nearly broke with the embrace. He didn’t deserve this. He knew he was pushing his hatred and misery on her, but he couldn’t help it. Silently she began to bind his wrists in white cloth. Already the mangled flesh was healing, the trickle of blood had slowed and only left small dots on the bandages.
“Alice, please don’t –“ Jasper tried to resist. She ignored him. He knew he was being stupid and stubborn, but he didn’t care. Dry tear ducts burned in his eyes.
She lifted him lithely to his feet. She wasn’t quite big enough to carry him, but she could certainly support his weight. Steadily they made their way through the forest, back home.

Alright, so these are the pairings in Tales of Symphonia that are simply too PERFECT to ignore!!! (In my opinion of course)
Will contain spoilers!!
Kratos and Anna
There is absolutely no way Kratos could love anyone else. He has been completely dedicated to her from the beginning, even after she died! Kratos strikes me as the type with such loyalty, he could never allow himself to love another. He’d probably feel like he was betraying Anna in a way. But that’s just who he is. :) Plus they’re adorable, and if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have Lloyd! Not to mention it is one of the most Canon relationships in the entire game.
Yuan and Martel
Let’s face it. These two are so adorable it almost hurts. I wish there was more of them in the game, perhaps if they ever make a prequel during their youth, we could see a ton of them. Or at least a lovely OVA. Also very very Canon. There are side quests you can do to find out about their relationship. If you haven’t done it already, GO DO IT.
Colette and Lloyd
How can you see these two together and not scream in delight? They are the perfect pair. Everything Lloyd has done in the game has been centered around Colette. They’ve had a huge connection throughout the entire game, and let’s face it, they’re pretty darn adorable. I doubt either of these two could really think about having a relationship with anyone else, they’re always too busy thinking about each other. This pairing may not have been explicitly TOLD to us in the game, but you’d have to be in denial to not see it.
Zelos and Sheena
Now I can already tell some of you are raging about this. These two characters get paired with virtually everyone in the realm of Tales of Symphonia. And many of the pairings are on fair grounding. However, I feel these two have the best fit. Sure, they squabble and argue all the time, but that’s just the way they show affection. Now you may be thinking, that’s ridiculous. However, if you look at the game, they really have one of the deepest connections out of all the (living) characters. They’ve known each other for years. They both care very very deeply about the other, although they may not want to admit it. This relationship hasn’t quite budded yet, though, because they haven’t quite discovered their true feelings for one another. That’s why this pairing can be so deceiving as just friends. I just feel this relationship is blatantly obvious to everyone except them. Which is part of what makes it so incredibly charming.
Keep in mind these are my opinions! :) Feel free to have your own and hate this post if you wish! Hahaha!
WHY CAN’T THEY JUST BE HAPPY!!!???
